Kentucky picked up a surprise addition to its 2014 football recruiting class when defensive back Shyquawn Pullium of Blinn College in Texas announced his commitment to the Wildcats on Twitter.
A Pennsylvania native, Pullium (6-1, 190) was originally part of Penn State's 2010 signing class, picking the Nittany Lions over a handful of additional major scholarship offers like Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Maryland. He was a three-star prospect ranked among the nation's Top 100 cornerbacks by Scout.
After a year at Kiski Prep to address academis, he headed to Blinn College for two years. Last season, he recorded 12 tackles and two pass break-ups for the Buccaneers.
Pullium is the Wildcats' 10th commitment for 2014. He is the third defensive back -- a major priority for UK in this class -- joining Georgia's Jared Tucker and Maryland's Kobie Walker. He was recruited by Chad Scott.
