Zimmerman on UK radar for '15?

The 7-footer from Nevada will find himself among one UK commitment, Karl Towns, and a number of other Wildcat targets like Rashad Vaughn, Devin Booker, Josh Perkins, Leron Black, Chieck Diallo and Skal Labissiere this week on the University of Virginia campus.

One of the players eager to make his mark this week at the prestigious NBPA Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville, Va., is 2015 center Stephen Zimmerman.

The 7-footer from Bishop Gorman High School in Nevada will find himself among one UK commitment, Karl Towns, and a number of other Wildcat targets like Rashad Vaughn, Devin Booker, Josh Perkins, Leron Black, Chieck Diallo and Skal Labissiere on the University of Virginia campus.

"I'm tying to prove that I'm one of the best and that I can play with anyone," Zimmerman said. "But the main thing is that I'm trying to get better. I want to see where I'm at as a player and see what I need to work on."

He's one of only a handful of juniors to get an invitation to the event, which means he could be a target this week.

"I love it. I'm there for a reason, and they know that so they try to go harder at me because I'm younger," Zimmerman said. "You have to prove something every time you step on the court and I like that kind of pressure."

Zimmerman's recruitment has not been as widely publicized as some of those other prospects, so just where does he stand with UK at this time?

He says he has yet to hear directly from UK head coach John Calipari, but believes he will be one of the Wildcats' prime targets for 2015.

"Obviously, they are a great school," he said. "They have an awesome coaching staff and a great team."

Zimmerman, who is coming off a dominant showing at the Pangos All-American Camp, is currently rated the No. 5 player in the country for 2015 by Scout and FOX Sports NEXT. He is the No. 2 center behind only Wisconsin prospect Diamond Stone.
