Kentucky's second big camp weekend of the summer produced another "Yahtzee" moment for the Wildcat staff as Cory Johnson, a 6-foot-3, 300-pound defensive tackle from The ASA College in Brooklyn, N.Y., gave his commitment to the Wildcats.
A source close to the UK program confirmed Johnson's commmitment Saturday afternoon, bringing the Cats' 2014 class to 21 players. He is the second defensive tackle on the big board, joining Bowling Green (Ky.) South Warren standout Adrian Middleton.
A Pennsylvania native, Johnson originally committed to Temple out of Chambersburg High School in 2011. After heading to The ASA College, he was picking up strong interst from programs like UK, Miami, Tennessee, Syracuse, Arizona State, North Carolina State and Penn State. Many juco scouting outlets consider him one of the top players at his position nationally.
Johnson, who was recruited by UK defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh, is expected to sign in December and have three years to complete two seasons of eligibility.
KyScout was on hand for UK's second Friday Night Blue Lights Camp of the summer last night at Commonwealth Stadium, where we originally forecast Johnson's commitment to the Cats.
