Mac Wilson (6-2, 215, 4.6) plays at Carver High School in Montgomery. Through half of his sophomore season, he has recorded 49 tackles (25 solo), seven forced fumbles, five sacks and two interceptions.
"It felt great," Wilson said of the offer from the Cats. "As a sophomore linebacker, I really didn't think I was going to get an SEC offer as my first offer. I was amazed and my high school coach told me I deserved the offer. Coach Derrick Ansley was the coach who offered me and is the main recruiter at Kentucky."
Since UK was the first school to offer, Wilson said he is certain he'll make an unofficial visit to Lexington sometime next year, most likely in the summer.
Asked what he's looking for in a future college home, Wilson said, "The academics because the education is important to me and will play a big role in my decision. I'm also looking at the defensive schemes the coaches are using and the coaching staff as a whole."
Wilson would like to his college decision made in the summer going into his senior year.
