Asked where the Wildcats stand in his recruitment, Smith said: "Kentucky is up there with the schools who are recruiting me. When coach (Derrick) Ansley offered me, I was excited. The Kentucky staff was the very first program that told me I was a really good player and had faith in me. The Kentucky offer really means a lot to me.
"I was on the (UK) campus last summer. It left a good impression on me. It's a great school with a great coaching staff and fans. I love the fans at Kentucky because they have a great attitude towards the football program. I will be on campus this upcoming summer to take in another camp."
Asked what he's looking for in a college program, Smith said: "I'm looking at the coaching staff, academics and the facilities."
Smith is "wide open" with no top five or favorites at this time. "I'll make my decision when I find the school that is the right fit for me."
