Three-star Lake Wales (Fla.) High School safety Marcus Walker gave his pledge to the UK staff on Wednesday and annoucned the news via Twitter.
"Just committed to Kentucky! Im a wildcat #bbn," Walker wrote via his @Prim3timejr4 account.
Walker (6-3, 185, 4.55) also had drawn interest from programs like Florida, Florida State, Central Florida, South Florida and Vanderbilt.
"Kentucky is on the way up," Walker told AllWildcats.com. "You can see it and feel it with the way they're recruiting a lot of good players. I want to be part of it.
"It's a great coaching staff," Walker added. "THat was another big part of my decision. I really liked coach (Mark) Stoops and coach (Derrick) Ansley and coach (Chad) Scott, all those guys who recruited me. You can feel a sense of family up there with the coaches and players. I spent a lot of time thinking about this decision and praying about it. I think God has led me in the right direction."
He joins Montrell Custis, a safety from Lovejoy High School in Georgia, as the Wildcats' first two public commitments in the junior class.
The position appears to be a big priority for the UK staff in the class for 2015. Current UK safeties Eric Dixon and Ashely Lowery will be departing the program after next season.
"They like how versatile I am," Walker said. "They say I can play the run or the pass, and how I play physical. They think they can move me around and play me all over the field, maybe even some cormer and some special teams as a return guy.
"I really like their defensive scheme and how they plan to use me in it."
He is the teammate of another Wildcat target, center Luke Hiers, who is regarded as one of the top center prospects in the country. Many analysts believe Hiers is a strong lean to join Walker at UK.
