Reed, Wilson lead UK over Old Dominion

A.J. Reed hit his third home run in the last two days and Storm Wilson had the game-winning hit in leading Kentucky to a come-from-behind 7-5 win over Old Dominion on the second day of the ODU Tournament in Norfolk, Va.

The junior first baseman's fourth home run of the year tied the game with two outs in the seventh inning. Redshirt freshman outfielder Storm Wilson later drove in the go-ahead runs with a two-out single.

Kentucky (4-2) got 5.1 innings from starting pitcher Chandler Shepherd, who allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out three. Ryne Combs (1-0) picked up his first career win, tossing 3.2 innings of hitless relief. The sophomore from Lexington, Ky., has worked 7.1 innings of scoreless relief this season, allowing only two hits.

The Wildcats banged out 11 hits on the day and drew seven walks. Reed went 3-for-4 to lead the offensive attack. Fellow preseason All-American Austin Cousino went 3-for-5 with a double. Kyle Barrett, Ka'ai Tom, Matt Reida, Connor Heady and Wilson each had one hit for UK.

Old Dominion (4-3) starter Tommy Alexander worked 4.1 innings, allowing five hits and three runs, walking two and striking out three. Reliever Dean Ali (1-2) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on three hits in 1.2 innings.

UK will conclude its weekend with St. John's on Sunday at 11 a.m. ET at the Bud Metheny Complex. The game will be broadcast live on the UK IMG Radio Network, with Dick Gabriel voicing the action.
