Four-star New Lenox (Ill.) Providence Catholic athlete Miles Boykin recently picked up a scholarship offer from Kentucky after hearing from the Wildcats for quite some time.

The 6-foot-5, 212-pound athlete began drawing interest from Kentucky late in his junior season, but got the good news of an offer recently from the UK staff.

"I talked to coach (Tommy) Mainord, and he told me they were offering me," Boykin said. "I was surprised and excited at the same time, how they're trying to start that air raid offense, and with a receiver like me, I'd be happy to be a part of it."

Mainord has been Boykin's primary recruiter. They are currently building on a relationship, although the prospect doesn't expect anything to materialize soon as far as his college decision is conerned.

"I think it will be closer to National Signing Day," Boykin said. "I'm not in a rush. I really don't even have a list yet."

In addition to UK, Boykin has been hearing a lot from Michigan State, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, Illinois and Wisconsin. He has already made unofficial visits to many of those, as well as Ohio State and Notre Dame. Plans are in the works for trips to Oregon and Ole Miss, as well as a return visit with the Buckeyes.

How schools choose to utilize his unique skillset could be a big factor in his recruitment. Will he stick at wide receiver, as he plays in high school, or will be bulk up and play tight end, as some scouts feel he may also project well?

"(Kentucky) just wants me to strictly play receiver, and I'm pretty excited about that," Boykin said. "They just want me at receiver because I'm a big, fast guy who can go up and get balls."

He is currently rated the No. 28 receiver prospect in the Class of 2015 by Scout. He has been timed under 4.5 in the 40 and boasts a 34-inch vertical leap.

Boykin is currently playing basketball for Providence Catholic. He says he's trying to set up an unofficial visit with the Cats, but his basketball schedule makes it challenging. He says he might make a trip to Lexington for the Blue-White Game this spring.

"Hopefully, I'll be able to get there," he said.
