Julius Randle was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year by the league's coaches on Tuesday, the fifth consecutive year that a Kentucky player has earned the honor.

The 6-foot-9 forward joins DeMarucs Cousins, Terrenece Jones, Anthony Davis and Nerlens Noel as UK's last four winners from 2010-2013.

Randle also earned a spot on the first-team All-SEC squad, while fellow freshman James Young was honored with a spot on the second team. Sophomore Willie Cauley-Stein grabbed a spot on the All-SEC Defensive team.

Randle, a Dallas native, finished the regular season leading UK in both scoring (15.4 ppg) and rebounding (10.5 rpg). He was the first player since Davis to finish the season averaging a double-double and only the second dating back to Kenny Walker during the 1984-85 season.

Young collected All-SEC second-team and All-SEC Freshman team honors after logging 23 double-figure scoring efforts on the season. The Michigan native led the team with seven 20-point scoring efforts and 67 3-pointers during the regular season.

Cauley-Stein earned All-SEC Defensive team accolades and is the sixth UK player in the last five seasons to earn the distinction. The 7-footer from Kansas accounted for 88 blocks on the season, which is the third-most in a single season in UK history. That total also ranks in the top 20 nationally for the year.
