One of them was Mark Stoops' Kentucky Wildcats.

"The Kentucky visit was awesome," Cox said. "Very similar to Tennessee with the plan if I come to UK – the chance to play early. Ohio State was another great visit."

In addition to those three programs, Cox (6-2, 220, 4.6) holds offers from Alabama, Miami, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Auburn, Florida and Florida State.

"Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Miami and Kentucky are showing the most interest right now," he said. The Gators have been rumored to be out in front, however, he does not claim a leader or a top five at this time.

Kentucky was the first major program to offer Cox.

During his time in Lexington, Cox liked what he saw and heard.

"I really had a great time visiting Kentucky," he said. "I love the campus and the coaching staff. I saw all the current facilities and the coaches talked about the new facilities being built in the coming years. I know the facilities will be very nice.

"Coach (Chad) Scott told me that the program is rebuilding and needs a guy like me to come in and play early," added Cox, who noted that playing time will be a major factor in his eventual decision. The Cats' current starting fullback, D.J. Warren, is a senior this season.

Asked if the visit helped the Cats chances with him, he said "Yes, it really did."

Cox is planning on a return visit to the Bluegrass in the summer. A decision could come before his senior season kicks off.
