Kaleel Gaines has a long list of offers including Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Michigan State, Tennessee, and Florida. The Frostproof (Fla.) standout recently visited both Michigan State and Tennessee. He really liked what he saw in East Lansing.
"I really liked the campus and the coaches. We sat down talked about how they play defense and I think I fit into their defense well," he said.
"I think we can get along well and have a good relationship."
The Spartans are recruiting Gaines as a corner, others are recruiting him at receiver. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound athlete also enjoyed his time at Tennessee and says the Volunteers like him on both sides of the ball.
"They have nice facilities, and the coaches like me too. They don't know if I should play receiver or DB though," he said.
"The coaches at Tennessee, they're good people and they really like me, so I think we could get along too."
Before making his decision, Gaines plans to visit Arkansas, Alabama, and Auburn sometime in July. At this time, he says it's Michigan State, Nebraska, and Florida State that stand out. He loved his visit to MSU and hears from the Cornhuskers often.
"They stay in contact with me and we talk a lot. The coaches like me too. They want me for DB, cornerback," he said.
Then there's the reigning national champs. Gaines is also considering FSU.
"I've been up there a lot and I get along with the coaches too," he said.
He plans to make his decision before his senior season gets started and he'll looking for a few key things.
"(I'm considering) playing time mostly, a place where I can feel comfortable, like I'm home. That's basically it," he said.
