UK releases non-conference slate

Fans who like a nice dose of tradition as part of their Kentucky basketball schedule will feel like they have a five-course meal during the 2014-15 season.

The school released its non-conference schedule for next season on Wednesday, a slate that includes some of the winningest programs in college basketball history. The Wildcats will play marquee games against Kansas, Texas, North Carolina, UCLA and Louisville.

Kentucky will open with a pair of exhibition games on Nov. 2 against Pikeville and Nov. 7 against Georgetown College. The regular season begins in Rupp Arena against Grand Canyon University on Nov. 14 and Buffalo on Nov. 16 in the 2014 Cawood Ledford Classic.

The Cats will also participate in the State Farm Champions Classic for the fourth straight year, facing Kansas on Nov. 18 in Indianapolis.

UK returns home for three consecutive games against Boston (Nov. 21) and the final two games of the Cawood Ledford Classic against Montana State (Nov. 23) and UT-Arlington (Nov. 25). John Calipari's squad closes out November by playing host to Providence on Nov. 30 in Rupp Arena.

December will feature four straight home games, beginning with the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on Dec. 5 against Texas at Rupp Arena. The Cats will then play host to Eastern Kentucky (Dec. 7), Columbia (Dec. 10) and North Carolina (Dec. 13) before heading to Chicago to play UCLA in the inaugural CBS Sports Classic on Dec. 20.

The calendar year will wrap up with the annual Bluegrass State rivalry game against Louisville on Dec. 27 at the Yum! Center.
