Ellenson picks up UK offer

Kentucky is rapidly expanding its offer list in the basketball Class of 2015.

A day after issuing a new offer to North Carolina foward Brandon Ingram, the Wildcats have made their official pitch to five-star Rice Lake (Wisc.) High School center Henry Ellenson.

News of the latest offer was released by Ellenson's AAU program, the Wisconsin Playground Elite. The UK staff has been evaluating the 6-10 Ellenson, one of the fastest rising players in the senior class, at this weekend's LeBron James Skills Academy.

Ellenson is currently rated the No. 3 center and No. 7 player overall in Scout's Class of 2015 rankings. He also holds offers from programs like Duke, North Carolina, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Baylor and UCLA.

Scout national basketball analyst Evan Daniels chimed in on Ellenson's play at the LeBron James Skills Academy:

"A player who has really boosted his stock nationally over the spring and summer, Ellenson definitely further proved himself on Saturday. He was drilling one three-pointer after another, while also driving and scoring in transition, rebounding and defending. Ellenson's size, length, motor, mobility and skill make him one of the nation's top prospects."

Kentucky is casting a wide net in the Class of 2015. Many believe it is due to the nature of the Cats' current roster and the question marks surrounding who will depart and who will return after the 2014-15 season. For that reason, UK may not have many pieces to its recruiting puzzle prior to the spring.

The Cats currently have offers out to each of the top four centers in the 2015 class: Diamond Stone, Cheick Diallo, Ellenson and Stephen Zimmerman.
