Kentucky's Madness campout sets new record

Kentucky's Big Blue Madness campout has broken its record for tents lining the Avenue of Champions and surrounding Memorial Coliseum, the school, announced Friday.

More than 760 tents were set up for this year's ticket distribution as of 9 a.m. Friday, breaking last year's record of 755.

Tickets were set to be issued on Saturday for fans who received control cards, but the university warned that all the campers may not be able to receive tickets due to the overwhelming turnout. Each person with a control card is allowed up to four tickets for the free event on Oct. 17 at Rupp Arena.

"The Big Blue Madness campout proves every year without a doubt that no one does it like the Big Blue Nation,” UK Deputy Athletics Director DeWayne Peevy said. “With that, we have a responsibility to communicate with our fans that are camping out that we are near our capacity of tickets available for distribution for this year’s event."

All persons with control cards must be in line by 7 a.m. ET on Saturday.
