Strowbridge picks Kentucky

In somewhat of a surprising development, Deerfield Beach (FL.) defensive end Jason Strowbridge committed to Kentucky this afternoon. The four-star season announced his choice on Twitter.

With offers from many of the best programs in the country, a decision was on the way for Jason Strowbridge today. He announced that he would be deciding on his college destination today at 1 pm.

The 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive end who holds 20 scholarship offers had narrowed his choices down to three schools: North Carolina, Miami and Kentucky.

Most observers thought he was bound for Miami, but he surprised many people with his choice.

Scout.com’s Jamie Newberg shared his thoughts on Strowbridge:

Strowbridge has a world of upside with a long, somewhat lean, frame that should fill out to 280+ down the road. He is all about upside at this point and could be a factor anywhere along the defensive line. Should have scheme versatility due to his plus athleticism. Strowbridge needs to get his pad level down and bring the same intensity every play. We love his upside and this should be a multi-year starter at the BCS level.

Strowbridge is Kentucky’s 16th commitment of the 2015 class and their third from the state of Florida.
