Kentucky Football Recruiting Notebook

There’s been a bit of a shake-up of late with Kentucky’s 2015 football recruiting class. With Darius Fullwood backing out on his verbal commitment to the Wildcats in favor of Virginia Tech and Alex Stump reportedly wavering in the wake of a new Ohio State offer, the Big Blue Nation is in need of some good news.

Not all is doom and gloom, however. The Cats still have the No. 27 class in the nation according to Scout and several of those committed players plan on expediting their enrollment at UK.

Here’s a few players who plan to get an early start in Lexington:

Four-star tight-end commit C.J. Conrad has told me he'll enroll early at Kentucky. 6-foot-4, 225 pound senior wants to be the leader of the recruiting class as Drew Barker was to 2014 class. Keystone HS (OH) tight-end will play at home against Brooklyn (OH) Friday night at 7:00 pm.

Three-star linebacker commit Jordan Jones told Bill Greene his plan to enroll early at Kentucky. 6-foot-3, 215 pound senior is getting interest from several Big 12 schools including Bob Stoops Oklahoma Sooners. Jones insisted he is solid with UK. He plans to take his official visit to Kentucky in two weeks. Cardinal Mooney (OH) standout does plan to take other official visits, but not sure who he'll visit. Cardinal Mooney Alumns include Kentucky Head Coach Mark Stoops and Kentucky tight-end/recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow. Jones and his teammates will play on the road Friday night at Lake Catholic (Mentor, OH). Kickoff is at 7:00 pm.

Three-star offensive guard commit George Asafo-Adjei told me he will enroll early at Kentucky. 6-foot-4, 290 pound senior has been getting major interest from SEC foe Florida. Adeji have a connection to UK before he committed in June. Lakota West (OH) standout is former teammate of current UK running back Mikel Horton. Adjei told Horton played a major role in his commitment to the Cats. Lakota West will host the talented Colerain (OH) Friday night at 7:30 pm.

Coach Tommy Mainord made him an important piece to the UK class early on when it seemed Livingston be West Virginia bound. Livingston was the first DMV area commit the Cats received with the other being Jabari Greenwood at Gonzaga (Md.) Ballou HS (DC) will be on the road Friday night at Dunbar (DC). Kickoff is at 7:00 pm.
