Cats land local standout Davonte Robinson

The Kentucky football program has landed its third in-state commmitment in the junior class and fourth overall in the Class of 2016.

Lexington Henry Clay standout Davonte Robinson, an explosive athlete/defensive back for the Blue Devils, gave his verbal to the UK staff on Wednesday afternoon. He is the fourth commitment to come on the heels of the Wildcats' thrilling 45-38 win over South Carolina on Saturday night at Commonwealth Stadium, joining 2015 Ohio twins Andrew and David Dowell and 2016 Georgia product Jordan Griffin.

The Cats also have 2016 commitments from McCracken County athlete ZyAire Hughes and Lexington Lafayette offensive lineman Landon Young.

Robinson (6-2, 170) participated in one of UK's camps in July and turned in one of the best 40-yard dash times of the summer, coming in at under 4.4 seconds. He carried that over to a big junior season with the Blue Devils, averaging almost 10 yards per touch on offense and starring on defense as well.

He projects as a cornerback for UK. He confirmed that he gave his commitment to defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley and defensive coordinator D.J. Eliot on Wednesday.
