When UK has the ball… The Cats need early momentum, both for themselves and the fans’ psyche coming off a disastrous showing last week at Missouri. Look for the staff to get quarterback Patrick Towles (No. 14, 2,235 yards, 13 TD, 5 INT) involved in the downfield passing game much sooner this week IF the line can hold up and provide protection against a solid UGA pass rush. Outside linebacker Leonard Floyd (No. 84, 43 TK, 5 SK) is a disruptive playmaker for the Bulldogs. Defensive backs Damian Swann (No. 5, 3 INT) and Quincy Mauger (No. 20, 3 INT) are the key players to watch on the back end of the UGA defense, which ranks No. 4 in the SEC in total defense. Georgia is fairly balanced on that side of the ball, ranking third against the pass (191.9) and eighth against the run (144.2).

When UGA has the ball… The scariest proposition for UK in this matchup is the Dawgs do what the Cats struggle most against as well as anyone in the nation. Even without suspended All-American tailback Todd Gurley, Georgia has the No. 3 rushing attack (250.2 ypg) and the No. 1 scoring offense (40.5 ppg) in the SEC. Kentucky is 13th in the league in rushing defense at 188.6 yards per game. Freshman Nick Chubb (No. 27, 725 yards, 6.0 ypc) has picked up the slack and looked like the Dawgs' next major star at the position. Kentucky clearly wants to make UGA put the ball in the air, but quarterback Hutson Mason (No. 14, 1,341 yards, 11 TD, 3 INT) has more than respectable numbers this season in his "game manager" type role. This may be a game in which the Cats' only chance is to win in shootout fashion with the Dawgs aiming at their feet on occasion.

Senior defensive end Bud Dupree has 21.5 career sacks, needing 4.5 more to tie for the most all-time in school history with Oliver Barnett (1986-89). Dupree currently leads all active SEC players in sacks… Senior wide receivers Demarco Robinson and Javess Blue have 922 and 932 career receiving yards, respectively. They can become the 23rd and 24th players in school history with 1,000-plus receiving yards… Patrick Towles is 532 yards away from eclipsing the 3,000-yard mark in career passing yardage.

Saturday marks the 15th time in program history that Kentucky has played on Nov. 8 with the Wildcats holding a 5-8-1 record all-time on games played on this date. On Nov. 8, 1952, Bradley Mills intercepted three passes against Tulane, tying the school record for most interceptions in a game… On Nov. 8, 1986, Ivy Joe Hunter rushed for 238 yards on 30 carries against Vanderbilt, setting the program record for most rushing yards in a game. The record stood for nearly 20 years until Moe Williams broke it three times in 1995... On Nov. 8, 2008, Winston Guy returned a kickoff against Georgia 96 yards before being tackled short of the goal line. It still stands as the longest kickoff return in program history that did not go for a touchdown.

• Kentucky will honor 22 Wildcats playing their final game at Commonwealth Stadium on “Senior Day.”

• Three of the last four meetings between UK and UGA in Lexington have been decided by seven points or less.

• UK ranks 17th nationally in turnover margin (+8) and 19th in turnovers gained (18).

• The Cats have 13 players on their 2014 roster from the Peach State, including Daron Blaylock (Marietta), Zack Blaylock (Marietta), Josh Clemons (Fayetteville), Alvin “Bud” Dupree (Irwinton), Khalid Henderson (Mableton), Jabari Johnson (Stone Mountain), Ashely Lowery (Cleveland), Conor Pilch (Atlanta), Demarco Robinson (Ellenwood), Ronnie Shields (Stone Mountain), Fred Tiller (Homerville), Jared Tucker (Stone Mountain) and Stanley “Boom” Williams (Monroe).
