Report: Shannon Dawson to become UK OC

Kentucky’s search for a new offensive coordinator may be coming to a close as reports indicate that Kentucky has made their choice.

West Virginia Offensive Coordinator Shannon Dawson is reportedly leaving Morgantown to take the same role for Kentucky.

Mark Stoops has been looking for a replacement for the departed Neal Brown who left Kentucky shortly after the end of the season to become Head Coach at Troy. Speculation centered mostly around East Carolina’s Lincoln Riley and James Coley of Miami.

Late this afternoon Shannon Dawson’s name surfaced and now it appears that he will be coaching at Kentucky next season.

Dawson has been OC at West Virginia under Dana Holgorsen 2012. He was inside receivers coach in 2011. Dawson also has prior experience as OC at Stephen F. Austin.

This past season Dawson led West Virginia’s offense to over 500 yards per game including 314 per game through the air. They were 11th in the nation in yards per game and 9th in passing yardage per game. They were also a respectable 44th in the nation in rushing per game with 188 yards per game.

Scout will keep you updated on Shannon Dawson and Kentucky’s decision on the new OC.
