Warren (OH.) Harding High defensive tackle Javon Provitt confirmed tonight that he has indeed committed to Kentucky. All Wildcats spoke briefly with the 3-star prospect.

When Scout last spoke with JaVon Provitt he advised Bill Greene he was talking most with Illinois, Maryland, and Pittsburgh.

But Kentucky, Purdue and Cincinnati had all offered the 6-foot-4, 320-pound senior months ago.

Tonight Provitt accepted his offer from Kentucky.

“Yes, I committed to Kentucky,” Provitt said. “I just like the way they play.”

There have been questions about when Provitt will visit and his academic profile. He told Greene that his GPA is fine and he’s preparing to take the ACT again soon.

Apparently his existing ACT score is close enough that Kentucky is willing to take a chance on him and they have scheduled him to take his official visit.

“I’m going to visit Kentucky this weekend,” he said.

Provitt is thought of as a run-stopping defensive tackle who says his “power and speed” are his biggest assets.

All Wildcats and Scout will keep you updated on JaVon Provitt.
