Kentucky to wear alternate uniforms

Kentucky will have a slightly different look when the No. 1 Wildcats take the floor for Saturday's game against Auburn at Rupp Arena.

Nike has equipped the Cats and seven other programs across the country with special "Hyper Elite" uniforms that, according to the company, "fuse progressive premium materials with school heritage."

The uniform will feature a white base with white lettering outlined in blue and a blue number. The shorts will feature a slightly-altered checkerboard pattern along the sides. The graphic was inspired by the chevron on the classic Nike Windrunner track jacket that debuted in 1978, the year marking one of UK's eight national championships.

The ultra-lightweight material used in the uniforms is designed for a wider range of motion and to regulate the temperature of players along the spine, where athletes tend to heat up the most. It also wicks moisture while eliminating cling from excess sweat, according to the Nike press release.

Arizona, Duke, Florida, Oregon and Syracuse will also wear special versions of the Hyper Elite uniforms.

Kentucky (26-0, 13-0 SEC) plays Auburn (12-14, 4-9 SEC) on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET. All-American guard Tony Delk will have his "OO" jersey retired during a ceremony at halftime.
