Many of Kentucky’s top commits have cited the opportunity to play in the SEC is a big reason they have chosen Kentucky. Snell was no different.
“I would have to say that I like the competition (of the SEC) the most,” said Snell. “I’m ready to better myself as a player against the teams that they play.”
So what led to the Kentucky commitment from the 2000 yard rusher?
“I came down on a visit. I was really interested. I liked Kentucky a lot. It’s SEC ball. A lot of competition. I’m really comfortable with the coaching staff and I’m comfortable with this school,” he continued.
Snell joins eight other Ohioans in Kentucky’s 2016 recruiting class. Mark Stoops’ staff’s ability to recruit that state is also another selling point for Snell.
“It feels good to see (so many Ohio kids at Kentucky). I’m happy that I can play and be around people that can relate to me. I know Tobias Gilliam already. I don’t know many of the guys. Tobias and me have been texting. He’s the only one I know so far,” he continued.
So what kind of player is Kentucky getting in Benny Snell? The 6-foot, 210-pound running back made it plain about what can be expected of him.
“My strengths are my vision, and that I’m real agile. I try to get every single yard that I can. I’m hard to bring down,” he finished.
