The 6-foot-4, 280-pound Fortner jumped on board with the Kentucky recruiting class mid-week after visiting for Junior Day two weeks ago. Fortner felt a level of comfort with the Kentucky coaches that he didn’t feel anywhere else.
“No other school felt right to me,” said Fortner. “I enjoyed my visits and they are clearly progressing as a football program.”
Kentucky’s progression along with the level of comfort Fortner expressed is due in large part to the Kentucky coaching staff, who Fortner felt at ease with.
“For me, the coaches are easy to talk to. I can talk to them any time I need to. I like that. I think I will fit in well there,” he continued.
When you factor in the coaches along with the campus, Fortner just felt good about the situation in Lexington.
“I just loved the atmosphere. I feel comfortable and open about the whole campus and football facility,” he continued.
Kentucky is getting a player who projects to the interior line, but Fortner also believes he can help out on the outside as well.
“I think one of my best strengths is my versatility. I have the length to be an outside guy, but I can play well in the middle too,” he said.
