Kentucky received another verbal commitment today from Kordell Looney. His Kentucky offer appeared to be a turning point in his recruitment.

Reports indicate that Springfield High (OH.) defensive tackle Kordell Looney has committed to Kentucky. After receiving offers from Toledo, Ohio and other programs, Looney told Scout’s Bill Greene that his Kentucky offer was extra special.

“I was offered by Kentucky today, and that’s a big offer to me,” Looney stated. “To have my first big offer come from the SEC is pretty amazing. My first few offers were from MAC schools and that’s great, but to have an SEC offer is amazing,” he told Greene.

Other programs who have expressed interest in the 6-foot-3, 285-pound junior are Louisville Purdue, Michigan State, Indiana and West Virginia.

Scout recruiting analyst Dave Berk also gave a breakdown of Looney’s game.

“Kordell Looney has the frame to add another twenty pounds and be a major force as a defensive tackle or nose at the college level. Showed improvement each week this past season, but needs technique work to reach full potential,” Berk commented.
