Kentucky is always looking to add big, physical wide receivers to the roster. A prospect on the radar is JUCO prospect D.J. Myers. At 6-foot-3, 200-pounds he has the size that teams look for as a receiver on the outside as well as coming across the middle. Myers isn’t just a big body, however.

“My hands, vision and work ethic are my strengths,” said Myers. “I don’t wear gloves (during practice). I only wear them in games. I was always taught to learn to catch without them, so I never depending on them. I am very good as scanning the field and being aware of my surroundings. That allows for more broken tackles and bigger plays down field.

“I consider my work ethic as my best quality. I am determined to be the best student-athlete I can possibly be. I strive to be a leader and lead by example,” he continued.

With all that in mind, it’s obvious why the Kentucky coaches are interested. But why is Myers interested in Kentucky?

“The coaching staff (stood out). These coaches were single-handedly the best group of men I’ve ever had the pleasure to be around and listen to. The coaching staff at Kentucky s full of hard-working, determined, father-figure-like men that take a special interest in each and every player in that locker room,” Myers said.

Myers was on campus this weekend and felt great about his visit to the Commonwealth.

“It was an amazing visit. The coaches and players welcomed me with open arms. I truly felt great about being there. I met all the coaches and had a great conversation with every single one of the. I got a chance to explore the entire campus and facilities. It was all great. I had a great time,” Myers said.

Myers believes an offer could be just around the corner once the coaches finish their process.

“I’m supposed to receiving a call in the next week after the coaches do their final evaluation. Coach(es) Marrow, Mainord, and Dawson all spoke very highly about me. So I am just waiting for the trigger to be pulled. I’ll have more specifics in a week or so,” he finished.
