New Market (AL.) Buckhorn defensive tackle Ja'quize Cross decided today that he would commit to the University of Kentucky. Cross, a 6-foot-3, 305-pound, three-star prospect talked with All Wildcats about his decision
Coach Jimmy Brumbaugh made a big impact on Cross and his relationship with the Wildcats’ DL Coach was among the deciding factors in Kentucky’s favor.
“Getting to meet Coach Brumbaugh and getting to know him made me want to go there really, really bad,” said Cross.
“What stood out was how much Coach Brumbaugh pushes you and pushes his players to get better academically. And how well they take care of their players with injuries and all that,” he continued.
Cross camped at Kentucky recently, earning a scholarship offer, but that wasn’t the first time he was on the Lexington campus.
“When I went there for their Junior Day, I completely fell in love with it,” he said. “I saw the new facilities and I really like it.”
Cross joins Ohio's Kordell Looney at defensive tackle in Kentucky's 2016 class.
