Kentucky is nearly finished with its 2016 recruiting class and the first game of the new season hasn’t even kicked off yet. The 22nd, and most recent commitment is Forestville (MD.) Bishop McNamara linebacker Jamar Watson.

Jamar Watson hopped on the Kentucky bandwagon early on after taking an unofficial visit to Lexington. Since that time, he felt very comfortable with the program.

“When I visited Kentucky everything was just overwhelming,” said Watson. “Every person I talked to involved with the program seemed excited to be there.

“The facilities that’s up-and-coming are almost second to none. It seems to be the best place to be the best athlete I can be. Also my relationship with Coach (Tommy) Mainord played a pivotal role.”

Watson, 6-foot-2, 225-pound outside linebacker, echoed the sentiments of many of Kentucky’s recruits over the past few seasons.

“My favorite thing about Kentucky is the positive atmosphere and being in the best football conference in the world,” he continued.

So what kind of player is Watson for the Wildcats’ 2016 recruiting class?

“My strengths are my versatility, being able to play in open space, off the edge and also in the box,” he finished.

Watson chose Kentucky over offers from Old Dominion, Miami, Boston College, Hampton, Virginia and Rutgers.
