"It's always important," Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops said after Thursday's practice. "I think it will be fun. It will be a great environment. We always like getting our players on campus, the commits, with the guys we're actively recruiting. We love having them on campus. It'll be a big day. The (recruiting) room will be full, and hopefully we'll play well."
Kentucky unveiled its long-awaited recruiting room two weeks ago for the season-opening win over UL Lafayette, but construction crews were still putting the finishing touches on the facility, and the staff did not bring in a group of prospects as big as the one they are expecting Saturday.
The Wildcats currently have 22 verbal commitments in the senior class, and most of them have confirmed to Scout that they plan to be in attendance for UK's SEC East showdown with the Gators. That group is currently ranked No. 21 nationally and is headlined by a pair of local-area standouts, four-star offensive linemen Drake Jackson (Woodford County) and Landon Young (Lafayette).
All four of Kentucky's 2017 verbal commitments -- Florida quarterback Mac Jones, Ohio running back Michael Warren, Ohio receiver/defensive back Russ Yeast and Ohio defensive end James Hudson -- also plan to be on hand. They'll no doubt be in the ear of some of the recruits who are still trying to make their college choices.
As for the uncommitted prospects who may be on hand, five-star Lafayette offensive lineman Jedrick Wills (pictured above), four-star Michigan cornerback Ambry Thomas, three-star Tennessee lineabcker Jacob Phillips, three-star Ohio offensive lineman Thayer Munford and three-star Ohio safety Tyrell Ajian are among some of the names being circulated.
