Kentucky coach Mark Stoops on 'personal issue' affecting star RB Boom Williams

Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops conducted an impromptu media session on Tuesday to discuss rumors swirling around the Wildcats' star running back, Stanley "Boom" Williams. Hear more about what the UK boss had to say in this feature.

Williams, a sophomore, entered last week's game against Missouri ranked fifth in the SEC with an average of 107.3 rushing yards per game, but had only seven carries for 21 yards against the Tigers. He was benched for most of the second half as junior running back Jojo Kemp took over as the primary ground option and finished with 66 yards on 13 carries in a 21-13 win for the Wildcats.

After the game, Williams departed immediately for the UK locker room rather than celebrating with his teammates, prompting rumor and speculation about what had happened during the course of the game. On Monday during his weekly press luncheon, Stoops was asked if it was related to missed blocking assignments, but the coach said that was not the case.

Williams' status for Saturday's game against Eastern Kentucky is now in doubt as he missed Tuesday's practice. Through four games this season, he leads UK (3-1, 2-1 SEC) with 343 yards rushing and an average of 7.3 yards per carry.
