Report: Kentucky Wildcats' Labissiere Cleared by NCAA

According to a published report by Yahoo Sports, Kentucky freshman center/forward Skal Labissiere has been cleared by the NCAA to play for the Wildcats this season.

Kentucky will not confirm or deny the eligibility report, citing athletics department policy, until the first game of the season.

The NCAA was reportedly looking into Labissiere's eligibility after coming to the United States from Haiti in the aftermath of the massive 2010 earthquake. His relationship with guardian Gerald Hamilton and attendance at Reach Your Dream Prep in Memphis were both under scrutiny. Earlier this month, it was confirmed that the nature of the NCAA's investigation was focused on Labissiere's amateur status rather than academics.

Last week during UK basketball media day, Wildcats head coach John Calipari indicated he was confident that he'd have his entire team to start the season. "I feel real good about what my team's going to look like on the first day," he said.

The 6-foot-11 Labissiere was Scout's top-ranked prospect in the Class of 2015 before signing with UK. He is projected by many as a potential No. 1 pick in next year's NBA Draft.
