Kentucky Wildcats' 2016 Football Schedule Released, including first trip to Alabama since 2008

A first trip to Alabama in eight years will highlight Kentucky's 2016 football schedule, which was officially announced Thursday night on the SEC Network.

The Wildcats' slate features seven home games and five away games. The SEC rotation brings South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Georgia and Mississippi State to Commonwealth Stadium, while UK hits the road for games at Florida, Alabama, Tennessee and Missouri.

The Cats' Oct. 1 game at Alabama will be their first against the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa since the 2008 season.

Kentucky opens the season on Sept. 3 in Lexington against Southern Miss before traveling to Florida for the league opener on Sept. 10.

The open date falls on Oct. 15 between SEC home games against Vanderbilt and Mississippi State.

The regular season finale, the battle for the Governor's Cup, comes on Nov. 26 at Louisville's Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.It will mark the second consecutive year that UK has closed the regular season with back to back non-conference games after playing host to Austin Peay the previous week.

For the 25th consecutive year, the 2015 regular season will culminate with the SEC Championship Game on Saturday, December 3 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
