Earlier this week, news leaked out that first-year offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson would not be back. UK head coach Mark Stoops has yet to officially comment on the moves.
Kentucky, which finished 5-7 for the second consecutive season, saw major regression in its passing attack this year. The Cats finished 81st nationally in passing offense (12th in the SEWC in pass efficiency) and produced just 10 touchdowns with 16 interceptions. UK threw for only two touchdown passes over the final seven games of the season and was also plagued by numerous drops from the receiving corps throughout the season.
Mainord had been with Stoops since he arrived in Lexington in 2013. He had been credited with several highly-regarded recruiting wins in the last two classes as UK gained national attention in that area.
