Rosters for the prestigious all-star game were announced Friday with guards De'Aaron Fox and Malik Monk (pictured above) joining Edrice "Bam" Adebayo in the April 15 event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Since John Calipari arrived at UK in 2009, a total of 29 Wildcats have been selected to play in the Jordan Brand Classic.
Adebayo will join Kentucky out of High Point Christian Academy in High Point, N.C. He’s ranked No. 15 overall by Scout. The 6-foot-9, 250-pound center/forward has prior USA Basketball experience and was named a MaxPreps All-American in 2013. Adebayo recently went over 2,000 career points for High Point Christian Academy.
Fox is rated No. 4 by Scout. The 6-4, 170-pound point guard participated in the 2015 USA Basketball Junior National Team minicamp and made the 2015-16 USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team in September. Fox is having another stellar season for Cypress Lakes High where he scored began his senior season topping 40 points in four of 11 contests.
Monk is considered the top shooting guard in the class. At 6-4, 185 pounds, he is rated No. 6 by Scout. Monk’s highlight to his senior season includes breaking a single-game scoring record with 53 points in a game for Bentonville High.
Kentucky currently has five players as part of its 2016 recruiting class. In addition to the three Jordan Brand Classic all-stars, the Cats will also welcome five-star forward Wenyen Gabriel and four-star forward Sacha Killeya-Jones.
Calipari recently stated that he plans to add one more player to the class, preferably a big man. Top-rated center Marques Bolden out of Texas is believed to be UK's priority target.
