Ulis, Murray on Midseason Awards Watch List

Ulis is one of 20 players on the midseason watch list for the Oscar Robertson Trophy, presented annually to the men's national player of the year. The sophomore point guard is averaging 15.3 points and 6.0 assists per game. He is coming off a 21-point performance against Vanderbilt, the sixth time in the last eight games he has scored 20 or more.

The Chicago product has seven games this season with 20 or more points and five or more assists, tied for the most in UK history dating back to 1972-73.

Murray is one of 10 players on the watch list for the Wayman Tisdale Award honoring the top freshman in the game. Only LSU's Ben Simmons is averaging more points per game than Murray (17.8), a pace that would make him the highest-scoring player at UK under coach John Calipari.

Both awards will be presented at the College Basketball Awards gala in Oklahoma City on April 11 at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.

Murray Honored by SEC

After averaging 18.5 points and seven rebounds in wins over Arkansas and Vanderbilt, Jamal Murray was named the SEC Freshman of the week fort he second time this season.

Murray scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the win at Arkansas. He followed that with 18 points, seven rebounds and three steals against Vanderbilt.

The Kitchener, Ontario, native has recorded a 3-pointer in all of the first 19 games he has played as a Wildcat, the only player in program history to accomplish that feat. He needs one more 3-pointer in Wednesday's game against Missouri to tie Doron Lamb for the record set in the 2011-12 season.

Murray has scored at least 12 points in 18 of his first 19 UK games. Only Cotton Nash (1961-62) and Bill Spivey (1949-50) had better starts. Nash had 12 or more points in 35 of his first 36 games, while Spivey posted 12 or more points in 24 of his first 25 outings.

The honor was UK's league-leading sixth of the year. Murray and Tyler Ulis each own two. Skal Labissiere and Isaiah Briscoe have also been honored by the SEC.

Florida's Dorian Finney-Smith was named the SEC's Player of the Week. The senior wing averaged 22 points and 10.5 rebounds in wins over Mississippi State and Auburn.
