Defensive end T.J. Carter joins Kentucky Wildcats' 2016 class after recent visit

Kentucky has added a sleeper prospect to its 2016 football recruiting class.

Mableton (Ga.) Whitefield Academy defensive end T.J. Carter announced his commitment to UK via the Twitter social network Thursday night.

A 6-foot-4, 250-pound athlete, Carter made an official visit to Lexington last weekend, landing an offer from the Cats. He was recruited by UK defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh (pictured above) and co-defensive coordinator Derrick Ansley.

Carter, who had also picked up offers from Central Florida and Memphis, has yet to be rated by Scout.

His addition gives Kentucky 25 verbal commitments for 2016 with National Signing Day looming on Wednesday, Feb. 3. Defensive end has been a big priority for the UK staff with juco Jordan Bonner and Ohio standout Jaylin Bannerman also part of the class.
