Senior DE/LB Jason Hatcher dismissed from Kentucky Wildcats following arrest

Kentucky senior defensive end/linebacker Jason Hatcher has been dismissed from the team following an arrest Monday morning in Franklin County.

Hatcher was pulled over for speeding and subsequently charged for trafficking of marijuana, tampering with physical evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia. UK announced his dismissal for a "violation of team rules" without further comment.

The Louisville native had previously been suspended for the first two games of the 2015 season for an unspecified violation of team rules. He had also been cited for possession of marijuana on the University of Louisville campus in 2014.

Hatcher was one of the first high-profile recruits for UK under head coach Mark Stoops. He chose the Wildcats over USC and several other scholarship offers from top programs.

As a junior, he recorded 39 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and two sacks in nine games. He started five games. With his departure, the Wildcats have no returning player who recorded more than one sack last season.
