Kentucky Wildcats land verbal from juco defensive end Phil Hoskins

Kentucky lost a key component of its 2017 recruiting class earlier this week when four-star Ohio prospect James Hudson announced his de-commitment, but it did not take the Wildcats long to address the void.

Three-star junior college defensive lineman Phil Hoskins announced his verbal commitment to UK via Twitter during his weekend visit to Lexington.

Hoskins (6-3, 275) also held offers from programs like Mississippi State, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Colorado, Iowa State and Syracuse. He is originally from Toledo (Ohio) Whitmer High School, where UK's Vince Marrow had originally recruited him before he took the juco route to Highland Community College in Kansas.

He is on track to be a December graduate and join the UK program next spring.

Kentucky currently holds 11 verbal commitments for 2017. Hoskins is the third defensive lineman in that group, joining Alex King of Ohio and Quinton Bohanna out of Tennessee.
