Kentucky Wildcats land verbal from Georgia QB Jarren Williams

Kentucky moved quickly to ease the sting from losing a quarterback commitment earlier this month.

The Wildcats received a verbal on Sunday from 2018 Lawrenceville (Ga.) Central Gwinnett standout Jarren Williams. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound signal caller announced his decision via the Twitter social network.

Recruited by new UK quarterbacks coach Darin Hinshaw, Williams is the Cats' first verbal commitment in the junior class.

Wiliams, who camped with UK earlier this month, also holds offers from programs like Louisville, Florida State, Maryland, Boston College, Colorado and West Virginia. He is coming off a sophomore season which saw him pass for 1,650 yards and 16 touchdowns while rushing for approximately 500 more yards and three scores.

His addition helps the Cats compensate for losing another quarterback, Florida product Mac Jones, a rising senior who flipped his choice from UK to Alabama in early June. The staff is reportedly still actively recruiting another quarterback for the Class of 2017 to go along with Lexington (Ky.) Lafayette standout Walker Wood.
