Florida wide receiver Joshua Ali gives verbal commitment to Kentucky Wildcats

Kentucky picked up a verbal commitment with a familiar name to the Bluegrass State on Monday.

Three-star Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade Prep wide receiver Joshua Ali gave his verbal to the UK staff this afternoon, according to Scout's Corey Bender.

Ali (6-0, 180, 4.5) had an impressive spring which saw his scholarship offer list grow to almost two dozen schools after a great showing at The Opening Miami regional event. He picked the Wildcats over programs like NC State, Louisville, Iowa, West Virginia and Pittsburgh. He had previously been leaning heavily to the Wolfpack before UK turned up the heat.

As a junior, he caught 56 passes for 860 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Ali is being recruited by new UK offensive coordinator Eddie Gran.

Kentucky currently has 10 verbal commitments in the 2017 class. Ali is the first wideout on the list.

This is one wide receiver that glides and moves effortlessly when navigating in the open field. Ali does a good job of sticking his foot in the dirt when getting into his breaks and making cuts, and really keeps defenders on their toes by not giving away his route. Ali, who's more of a possession receiver with his ability to work underneath and make defenders miss, also does a nice job of adjusting and tracking the football over his shoulder. This is a sure-handed and patient young man that runs some of the better routes in Broward County.
