SEC Media Days poll picks Kentucky Wildcats to finish 4th in East

Kentucky was picked to finish fourth in the SEC Eastern Division in voting announced Thursday at the league's annual Media Days event.

The Wildcats were tabbed behind preseason East favorite Tennessee, Florida and Georgia, but ahead of Missouri, Vanderbilt and South Carolina. The Volunteers received 225 first-place votes, while the Gators (57) and Bulldogs (45) also received a high amount of votes to win the East.

Alabama was once again picked to win the West as well as the overall SEC championship. The Crimson Tide were followed by LSU, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Auburn and Mississippi State. The Crimson Tide collected 246 first-place votes, while LSU garnered 76.

A record 331 votes were cast at this year's event.

Only five times since 1992 has the SEC Media Days predicted champion won the title.

The preseason All-SEC Team will be announced on Friday.
