Kentucky Wildcats' top point guard target sets up official visits slate

The prospect at the top of the Kentucky Wildcats' point guard recruiting board for 2017 announced his plans for official visits on Wednesday.

Five-star Norman (Okla.) North High School point guard Trae Young announced via Twitter plans for four of his five official visits and intention to see two other schools this fall.

Young plans to be in Lexington the weekend of Oct. 14-16 when the Wildcats hold their annual "Big Blue Madness" celebration. He also has visit dates in place for Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas Tech, while expected trips to Oklahoma State and Washington have yet to be finalized.

Young is coming off a stellar summer showing highlighted by leading MOKAN to the Nike EYBL Peach Jam championship by averaging 27 points, 7.2 assists and 3.1 steals per game. The 6-foot-2, 170-pounder is rated the No. 3 point guard and No. 22 prospect overall in the Class of 2017 by Scout.

Kentucky is also pursuing Quade Green, a 5-star prospect out of Philadelphia, and Tremont Waters, a four-star prospect out of Connecticut, at the point guard position where the Cats are expected to see freshman De'Arron Fox test the NBA waters at the end of the 2016-17 season.
