Five-star power forward P.J. Washington sets his official visit with Kentucky

Another one of Kentucky's primary recruiting targets in the basketball Class of 2017 has set his official visit with the Wildcats.

Five-star power forward P.J. Washington, who is ranked No. 14 in the senior class by Scout, announced his first four scheduled visits via the Twitter social network on Monday.

Washington would be in Lexington the weekend of the New Mexico State football game.

He is also considering Kansas, NC State, UCLA and UNLV among his final eight.

The 6-foot-7, 220-pound power forward from Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep is considered one of the best rebounders in his class. He averaged 10.9 boards per game to go along with a 17.4 scoring average in the Nike EYBL for Team Penny, which also featured UK wing target John Petty.

Washington is the second major target to announce his visit date with the Cats. Five-star Oklahoma point guard Trae Young revealed last week that he'll make his official visit to UK for "Big Blue Madness" the weekend of Oct. 14.

Kentucky head coach John Calipari said recently that he's focusing on "eight or nine" major prospects in the Class of 2017. He is expected to sign at least six.

Washington and five-star Texas prospect Jarred Vanderbilt are the two primary power forwards on UK's wish list.
