Groveland South Lake (Fla.) offensive lineman Ryan Carter likes Kentucky early in his recruiting process.
Carter, a massive 6-foot-5, 320-pound guard with a 430-pound bench and 655-pound squat, attended Kentucky's camp and is keeping the Wildcats in the mix. The first-team Florida all-stater also has offers from Florida, Miami, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Georgia Tech and BYU among others.
"The kid is 6-foot-5, weighs 300 pounds, great work ethic, good academics, and grades out so high that we just quit keeping count," South Lake coach Charles Weems said. "He simply overpowers defenders and shows a mean streak out on the field. I see him as a mid-DI player right now but his stock could rise this season if he keeps developing. There's no doubt he's the best player we've ever had here at South Lake. And with his academic package (1020 ACT), getting his test done early, I suspect he'll be heavily recruited next fall."
