Former Kentucky Wildcat Jamal Murray MVP of NBA Rising Stars Challange

Murray buries nine treys in showcase of NBA's young talent.

Former Kentucky standout Jamal Murray was named MVP of the NBA's Rising Stars Challenge on Friday night in New Orleans after scoring a game-high 36 points to lead the World Team to a 150-134 win over Team USA.

It marked the fourth-highest point total in the history of the all-star event.

Murray, a first-round pick of the Denver Nuggets, went 13-of-19 from the field and 9-for-14 showing from beyond the 3-point arc. He also recorded 11 assists, four rebounds and a steal in just 20 minutes of action.

He was one of four former Wildcats to take part in the Rising Stars Challenge. Trey Lyles chipped in with seven points for the World Team, while Karl-Anthony Towns and Devin Booker had 24 and 17, respectively, for Team USA. Towns also had 11 rebounds, while Booker dished out six assists.
