Kentucky Wildcats' Riley Mahan named SEC Player of The Week

Junior infielder batted .500, drove in 11 runs as Cats won all five games last week.

Kentucky's Riley Mahan was named SEC Player of The Week on Monday after batting .500 and driving in 11 runs for the Wildcats during their successful opening homestand.

The Cats went 5-0 against Eastern Kentucky, Western Kentucky, and No. 23 UC Santa Barbara to push their season record to 7-5.

Mahan, a junior infielder from Cincinnati, had a slugging percentage of .944 during the week. He recorded five doubles and a home run among his nine hits.

In the Eastern Kentucky and Western Kentucky games, Mahan drove in a career-high four runs on back to back days.

He is now hitting .347 on the season with 13 runs, six doubles, three home runs and a team-high 17 RBI.

It was Mahan's first league honor since being named Freshman of the Week in March of 2015.
