Kentucky Wildcats draw No. 2 seed in South Region alongside UNC, UCLA

Cats open NCAA Tournament against Northern Kentucky on Friday in Indianapolis.

Kentucky's 11-game win streak en route to the SEC Tournament championship has earned the Wildcats a No. 2 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

The Cats (29-5) will face Northern Kentucky on Friday in Indianapolis. Tipoff is slated for approximately 9:30 p.m. ET.

In their first year as a Horizon League member, the Norse (24-10) captured the league's automatic bid by defeating Milwaukee 59-53 in the championship game. NKU is on a six-game winning streak and has lost only one game since Jan. 29.

The two programs have met only one time previously, a 93-63 win by UK in November of 2013.

If Kentucky advances, it faces the winner of the Dayton (7) versus Wichita State (10) matchup.

The South Region features ACC champion North Carolina as the No. 1 seed and UCLA as the No. 3 seed, a pair of potential rematches for the Cats. UK defeated the Tar Heels 103-100 on Dec. 7 in Las Vegas, but lost to the Bruins 97-92 on Dec. 3 at Rupp Arena.

Arkansas, who UK defeated 82-65 on Sunday in the SEC championship game, is a No. 8 seed in the upper portion of the South bracket. The Razorbacks will face Seton Hall in the opening round.

Another looming storyline has Richard Pitino's Minnesota squad seeded No. 5 in the upper half of the bracket.
