Strong Spring for Kentucky Wildcats' Hoak

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Redshirt freshman quarterback Gunnar Hoak was one of the standouts in Kentucky's Blue-White Spring Game on Friday night at Commonwealth Stadium.

Hoak completed 16 of 24 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns while also scoring on a 4-yard keeper.

The Ohio native has been competing with last year's starter, Stephen Johnson, for the starting job this spring. He figures to be in the mix for the No. 1 or No. 2 spot this fall with Drew Barker recovering from back surgery.

After the game UK head coach Mark Stoops talked about how well Hoak played this spring.
