Kentucky Wildcats' Riley Mahan named SEC Co-Player of The Week

Junior infielder batted .688 in four games against Top 10 teams last week.

Coming off a smoldering week at the plate in which he went 11-for-16, Kentucky's Riley Mahan was named SEC Co-Player of The Week on Monday.

The junior infielder's hot bat helped lead No. 10 Kentucky to a 3-1 week against No. 2 Louisville and No. 8 LSU. He batted .688 while reaching base in 14 of his 19 plate appearances.

It marked the second SEC Player of the Week honor for the Cincinnati native.

In the weekend series against LSU, Mahan set the tone by going 5-for-5 in the opener with two doubles and three RBI. He capped his big weekend with a home run in Sunday's finale to help the Cats clinch the series and remain atop the SEC East standings.

Mahan is now batting .335 this season with 35 runs scored, 17 doubles, two triples, seven home runs and 41 RBI. He ranks among the league leaders in doubles(2nd), total bases (4th), slugging percentage (4th), RBI (6th) and hits (10th).
