LEXINGTON, Ky. --- Add yet another in-state verbal to Kentucky's growing list of 2002 football commitments.
Louisville Ballard's Maurice Marchman on Tuesday became the ninth player to commit to the Wildcats. The 6-foot, 195-pound receiver picked UK over Louisville, Boston College, Cincinnati, Indiana and Miami (Ohio).
''I think he's a steal,'' Ballard coach Mark Catlett told The Louisville Courier-Journal. ''He'll be a fantastic receiver in college. He has great skills, a great awareness of the game, and every year he's matured physically and mentally. I think physically he can play as a freshman at Kentucky."
Marchman is currently second in the state in receptions with 24 for 634 yards and six touchdowns. As a junior, he caught 71 passes for 1,025 yards and nine touchdowns to go along with 583 yards rushing. His 4.45 speed also gets highlighted on the Bruins' track and field team. He placed in the top eight in both the Class 3A 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash last year.
