Cats Looking at Athlete Cassan Breeden

Cassan Breeden has had to play 2 years behind the shadow of ReSean Dickey. Well, next season will be Cassan's turn to shine.

Breeden is one of the better athletes in the class of 2005, Cassan still needs to polish the fine points of the game and improve outside shooting (14-18 ft) to be a top 25 player.

Cassan is a 6'8" 185# small forward from Marlboro County High School in Bennettsville, SC (near Columbia). At 6'8" he needs to add some bulk to the frame and he can do it.

Breeden is an athletic forward who plays with a passion and energy that compliments the mild-mannered and laid-back approach of Dickey.

His most active suitor is N.C. State, but UNC, Kentucky and others are also keeping tabs on his progress this season.

"I don't really have a favorite, but N.C. State is sending me mail every day," Breeden said. "I like their coaching staff a lot and I like the fact that Julius Hodge plays for them because people compare me to him." North Carolina State has really been persistent and moved high on his list," Marlboro County coach Kevin Spencer said.

"I don't want to go to school in-state," Breeden added. "I'll go anywhere outside of South Carolina, but not too far. I really like North Carolina and the fact that the program is at such a high level. All those guys have a chance to go to the NBA if they play at Carolina – no matter who the coach is."

Cassan is ranked 19th by Insiders and 22 by the Geeks.
